Michael RogersTwenty-five years as a decorative faux finisher have given Michael Rogers many reasons to share his craft.  The years brought him growth, success, and knowledge.  Over time he decided he wanted to pass on his secrets.

Though he is native to Oregon, Rogers’ career began in Palm Desert, California.  After possessing extensive experience and having been well recognized by his industry, he completed projects for Frank Sinatra and Andy Williams as well as other distinguished entertainment figures.  Additionally, Rogers’ has worked throughout the Western United States.

In 1997, Rogers’ expanded his work, designing backgrounds for commercial photographers as well as creating a line of wallcovering.  He has a separate website for this where his wallcovering can be viewed, at www.HandPaintedPaper.com.

As his work history grew, he learned that there was more than just artistry required of his profession.  Although decorative faux finishing is a craft, an understanding of the business aspects is required for success.

His years of experience in the field taught him what problems to expect on the job, and how to resolve these.  He knows how to troubleshoot issues that arise during a job, and knows what the client wants (i.e. homeowners and interior designers).  His business grew in the ‘80s, requiring fulltime installers and a studio staff most of whom he personally trained, giving him experience in management.  His studio was open to the public for sample viewing and client meetings.  He knows how to run, and more importantly, grow a business.

Upon returning to Oregon in 2003, Rogers decided to teach out of his studio in Portland.  In 2004 he was personally chosen by SkimStone www.SkimStone.com to be one of twenty certified instructors in the country.  He began teaching because he knew he could help other faux finishers take their businesses to the next level by providing them with a unique advantage.  Having taught well over two hundred apprentices, he gives them the edge they need to expand their scope of work; not only can he help them start a business, but he can help them grow it.

The decisions made today impact one’s business and family for the rest of their lives.  A course with Michael Rogers provides the opportunity to enhance income, support a family, and build a rewarding, successful business.
